Before the new station was built round the point, the lifeboat lived here. The stone house at the foot of the slipway is now a cottage of its own: a sitting room with a wood stove, two bedrooms under whitewashed stone, and glass doors that open straight onto the slipway and the sand.

At high tide the sea comes up almost to the step. At low tide the cove is yours before anyone else is awake. There are wetsuits and a paddleboard in the shed, and a basket of breakfast can come down from the house if you’d rather not walk up.

It sleeps four, and dogs are welcome.

Questions

How far is the Boathouse from the main house?

A three-minute walk down a stone path with steps, lit at night. We carry your bags down for you.

Can we cook?

There's a small kitchen for breakfast, snacks and a bottle of wine, but no oven. Dinner is up at the house, or we can send down a supper basket.
